Also a girl who's been hidden for an undiscerned amount of time and is possibly the smartest one but that's another story. Some magic bells. Oh right, and the titular Magic Flute. A perilous quest. A dark citadel that might actually be a beautiful castle. The serpent who started it all. What could possibly go wrong? You already know.

While perusing Facebook on the way back from a production of The Magic Flute, I saw a captivating painting of Kylo and Rey as Supreme Emperor and Empress. Inspired by the potential for a broader dynamic between the opera's grand characters, I imagined Kylo and Rey in the places of the Queen of the Night and Sarastro, High Priest of the Sun (though, no worries if you have no idea who those people are. The story is pretty much just Reylo with overtones of Mozart-era misogyny). The concept of the balance between Rey and Kylo has always fascinated me.
In this AU, everything takes place on one fantasy world, rather than a wider galaxy like in Star Wars cannon. There isn't much by way of plot; it's more just a moment in time, a single conversation, but one that will spark change.
I'm making this sound really boring, but I promise it isn't. It's vaguely fluffy. Fluffy things are never boring! -
