Thirteen days. It had been thirteen days since Patrick had met Race. Twelve days since he’d been dubbed Finch. Eleven days since he’d had a proper meal. Ten days since he’d found the knife that he held in his hand. Nine days since he’d had a full night’s rest. Eight days since that man had called the police on them. Seven days since they’d broken out of the police station. Six days since they’d left Hanover. Five days since Finch had fixed the cut on Race’s arm by touching it. Four days since he’d woken up. Three days since they’d crossed the Susquehanna river. Two days since they’d arrived in Lancaster. One day since they’d completely run out of food.
It had been thirteen days and Finch kind of wanted to give up. Seven years wasn’t a long time to be alive, but he was tired.
