SU Poke-Verse AU Ep. 13: The Return

Summary:

After Greg tells Steven the story of how he and his mother met, he comes home to a big loud surprise...a wailing sound from something called a wailing stone. It turns out to be a message from Lapis Lazuli, a warning that Homeworld is coming.

But are they ready?

Chapter 1: Story For Steven.

Chapter Text

Steven was hanging out with his Dad today, having a good old jam session. Greg's Rillaboom was providing the percussion Greg may have been losing his hair but his talent was still there.

Eevee wasn't really able to play a musical instrument, but he was happy to be a part of the experience. As Greg reached to grab a can of soda, he noticed something stuck to the bottom of it.

It was a photo, an old photo from before Steven was born "Hey, it's a picture of you! Say...who's that guy in the picture with you?" "Oh? That's just my old pal Marty!" said Greg.

"Never heard of him" said Steven. "Yeah, we were old amigos who went waaaay back. He's dead to me now" Greg said in a nonchalant way.

"Well, who was he?" asked Steven. "He's my old manager, from way back before I met your mom" Greg explained "I don't think I've told you this story, have I?" "Not the version with Marty" said Steven.

"Alright then...here's the whole story!" said Greg.

*18 Years Prior*

Greg Universe, Age 22, Occupation: Community College Dropout and amature musician trying to make it big. He was sporting a full head of long luxurious hair, unlike his unkempt appearance once he started balding.

His face was clean shaven, and was sporting a black sleeveless shirt with a star on it. He was currently playing a song called "I Am A Comet" a song that was derivative of the glam rock of the eighties.

He played his heart out on stage, strumming his guitar, while behind him, RIllaboom played along on its stump drum, and beside Rillaboom was a Low-Key Toxtricity that was providing bass like sounds along with the music.

The Toxtricity wasn't his, though, it belonged to his manager, Marty. The Toxtricity was on loan from Marty, to help with Greg's music, Marty was doing all he can to help sell Greg's music.

Greg let out one last strum of his guitar as his song finished, his concert went off without a hitch. Too bad there was only one person in the audience.

But that one person seemed to have really enjoyed it all the same. It was a huge woman with huge, curly, pink hair. And she was applauding  with much enthusiasm.

"Uh...Thank you, thanks for coming everybody! I'm Mr. Universe" Greg introduced himself "If you like what you heard, check out our merch table! My manager can hook you up with CDs, T-shirts and...Oh, he's not here...I guess I'll be the one doing that."

Rillaboom and Toxtricity both sighed as Greg made his way to the merchandising table. The only audience member made her way to the merchandising table and she picked up a CD.

"Space Train to The Cosmos" She read the title aloud. "Yeah! One way ticket to ri-ide!" Greg said in a sing song tone, doing an air guitar, much to the amusement of the lone audience member.

"Well. how will you get back?" she asked. "Back?" "Back to Earth?" "Me, I ain't never coming back!" "Oh! That's awful, isn't this your home?" The two shared a laugh at their conversation.

"You uh...you want that? You can have it" said Greg "it comes with a free T-shirt! You'll probably need a bigger size, erm, no offence" "Why would I be offended? I am quite large" the audience member asked.

"Well, last time I said that to a woman at one of my shows...I got quite the slap. Learned the hard way that size is a sensitive issue with some women" Greg said, laughing nervously.

"Some of the people I knew had no problems with their large size at all, in fact, they're quite proud of it. Believe it or not, they dwarf me." The Audience member joked.

"Well, in that case I've got an extra large size in the back of the van!" said Greg. When he went to the backdoor of the van but was startled when Marty and a woman came out of the back.

"Star Child! Meet, Vidalia!" Marty introduced. "Nice van. Really living the high life" said Vidalia. The van had been Greg's, but he let Marty drive it so that he could focus more on his music.

"So, how was the show?" asked Marty. "It was great! We had one person show up! Oh! I have to give her this free...T-shirt?" Greg noticed that the singular audience member was gone as he grabbed the T-shirt.

"Greg! You can't give stuff away for free!" Marty scolded "What about my seventy five percent!? You know what seventy five percent of nothing is? Nothing! And are YOU worth nothing?"

"No..." said Greg.

"That's right! And you gotta remember, you're in the music business now. Keyword: Business. That means your music's gotta sell! Sell merchandise, where the REAL money in entertainment is made! We can't just live off of winning Pokemon battles! Not unless you're aiming to be the champion" said Marty "But you're aiming to be a rock star! That means you gotta be the best at performing music!"

"Okay..." said Greg. "Good! And if you stick with me, we're both gonna be rich!" said Marty as he leaned in to whisper "and as far as these saps know, we already are! So let's live it up before we hit the road! Next stop, Rout 5! Just outside of Nimbasa City! If we get noticed there, we'll be allowed to perform in Nimbasa Amusement Park! Then we'll finally be on a roll!"

Greg decided to take this opportunity to find the mysterious audience member, he ran down the Beach looking all over for her. That's when he noticed a fence at one isolated part of The Beach.

There was a sign on it that said "KEEP OUT" and below it was a sign written in neat cursive "please" Greg looked behind the fence and saw a huge statue.

"Maybe she's over there?" Greg wondered. "Hoo!" He heard a purple Noctowl perched on the fence asked. "Oh, just some mysterious giant lady with pink hair" said Greg "you wouldn't have seen anything like that, would ya?"

"Sure I have!" The Noctowl responded. "Gyah! A talking Pokemon? What is this, The Adventures of Ash & Pikachu!?" Greg yelped "wait, you saw her!? Where!"

"I'd tell you, but I'd have to kill you! Hoo hoo ha ha ha!" The Noctowl joked. "Hey! Hold on a sec!" Greg climbed the fence after the Noctowl.

Greg fell off the fence when he got over to the other side and that's when he noticed the Noctowl perching on the shoulder of a woman whose head resembled the shape of a Pikipek's head.

"This long haired human was talking to me over the fence" said The Noctowl. "It spoke to you?" asked Pearl. "He was talking about Rose! Oh! There he is now!" Said The Noctowl.

The Noctowl took off of the woman's shoulder, its wing hitting her in the face "Amethyst, wait!" Pearl responded. The Noctowl transformed into a young woman whose attire and appearance was similar to that of a toddler's.

"Whoa! It's you! I've never seen this one before! I really like your hair!" said Amethyst. "Uh...thanks?" asked Greg. "Pearl, Amethyst. You're with a human" said Garnet.

"He followed me over the fence!" said Amethyst. "What should we do?" asked Pearl. "I was hoping to meet this huge lady with pink curly hair" Greg explained.

"See? She's talking about Ro-MMPH!" Pearl blocked Amethyst's mouth before she could finish speaking. "I don't know how to make it go away!" said Pearl.

"I'll just throw him over the fence" Garnet said casually as she lifted Greg over her head like he weighed nothing.

"Excellent idea! Humans should stay on the other side of the fence like the sign says" said Pearl. "Ah! Wait! No throwing!" said Garnet. "Wait!" a familiar voice called out.

The woman from Greg's concert came to the three mystery ladies that had Greg bewildered. "Mr. Universe?" asked Rose.

Garnet then casually dropped Greg. "Are you alright?" the mysterious woman asked. "Rose, you know this human!?" asked Pearl. "He was playing a concert on The Beach and I couldn't help myself" said Rose.

"No one can ignore the universe!" said Greg as he took out the T-shirt he bought from the back of the van "I brought you this! It's the free T-shirt that comes with the free CD!"

"Why thank you!" said Rose accepting the T-shirt. The other three looked in curiously, Rose whispered "His gimmick is space!" "Hey! Play something, Music Man!" Amethyst requested.

Garnet summoned her gauntlets "Better say something good!" "Yeah! I've got this awesome new set! It's gonna be a killer at the next show" Greg paused and realized "My next show! Hey! What time is it?"

"Night time?" Pearl answered. "Marty's probably looking for me! We're supposed to hit the road, we've got an exhibition performance at Performer's Square on Route 5" said Greg "and I didn't drop out of community college for nothing!"

"Well, you better hurry. You don't want to miss your space train to the cosmos!" Rose encouraged him. "Boom! Boom!" Greg suddenly heard.

"Rillaboom! Sorry buddy, didn't mean to worry you too" said Greg to his Pokemon "Oh, this is Rillaboom, my partner Pokemon!" "It performed with him with another Pokemon" Rose whispered to the others.

"I guess I better get going! I, uh, hope the stars align so that we can meet again" said Greg trying to keep up with the gimmick.

"Hmm, I thought humans and Pokemon didn't get along, at least that's how it seemed in Hisui" said Pearl. "Didn't they invent those ball thingys so they didn't have to be scared of em?" asked Amethyst.

"Yes, they did. Humans and Pokemon coexist peacefully now. I've seen it many times" said Rose. Pearl, however, was still feeling a little jealousy towards Greg "I can sing too, you know."

The other gems started laughing. "What? What did I say?" asked Pearl.

Much later, and after much apologies to Marty, the two men were on the road to Route 5. Greg was chilling in the back with Rillaboom and Marty's Toxtricity, it was strumming its bass string like organs on its chest.

"You know, Greg, I'm not even angry. In fact, I hope you had fun doing whatever you were doing" said Marty "I'm just sad for you because you missed out on all the fun I've had with Vidalia and her friends! They were wild and crazy! I'm glad this backwater town wasn't a total waste!"

"I met some weird ladies too" said Greg "they changed shape and appeared out of beams of light-"

"Hey, save the poetry for the REAL cities, Star Child, the ones that are actually on the map" said Marty. "I'm serious, Marty. Something's going on back there" said Greg.

"Then let those Legend Watch weirdos look into it" said Marty "let them pretend they're not a waste of taxpayer money. Us? We got to move forward! We've got FAME ahead of us!"

Marty tried putting in a cassette tape in the tape player "Hey, what's in your tape deck!? You've got coins jammed in there, you weirdo? Hey, why don't you play something for me, Star Child?"

Greg looked to his Pokemon and then to Marty's Pokemon and held up three fingers, lowered one and then an other one and Greg played a first note to give the Pokemon an idea of what kind of song he's going to sing, something he trained them to do before set out.

"Do you believe in destiny? Then close your eyes and rest with me-" "Snore! What the hell was that!? You trying to put me to sleep when I'm behind the wheel? Where'd that shlock come from?"

"I-I can't stop thinking about that woman at the show" said Greg. "Oh boy, here we go, how big was she?" asked Marty. "Eight feet all...massive hair" said Greg.

"See, this is the problem with you. You focus on one big woman when you can have multiple small ones" said Marty. "Hey, come on, Marty, women are people too" said Greg.

"Just follow my lead and you're gonna get whatever you want!" said Marty. "WATCH THE ROAD!" Greg warned, causing Marty to panic when he noticed an incoming truck and swerved out of the way.

They stopped at a Billboard, which was ironically for auto insurance. "Why do you get to decide what's important!?" asked Greg.

"Because I'm your manager and you're just a spaced out kid!" Marty roared "I'm going to take you to the outskirts of The Big City and you're gonna play, and then you'll play in the big city, and you're gonna like it! Maybe you'll even make me some money for once!"

"Get out of my Van, Marty" said Greg. "Sit down, Greg" Marty ordered. "I said...GET OUT MY VAN!" Greg shoved Marty out the van. His Toxtricity hopped out after him of its own accord.

Greg drove away, turning back towards Beach City "You're making a big mistake Greg!" he heard Marty yell. "Come on, Toxtricity, let's get out of here" Marty grumbled.

Toxtricity looked back in the direction of Greg's van. "Come on, Toxtricity, forget him! He's a nobody who doesn't know what's good for him" said Marty "Just another hobbyist who doesn't have the balls to do what's required to be a professional. We'll pave our own path to riches."

Toxtricity reluctantly followed its trainer. But it couldn't help but miss Greg, even though he wasn't its trainer, Toxtricity had a lot of fun performing with him and Rillaboom.

Greg drove all the way back to Beach City and onto the Beach, drove the van right through the fence and stopped at the door to the temple.

He hopped out with Rillaboom and his guitar, ready to play, banging on the door to the temple "Hey! Are you in there!? I can play for you now!"

He began to play the song he played for Marty in The Van, but without interruption, playing the full lyrics, all in hopes the mystery woman would open the door.

Luckily, his efforts were rewarded and there she was, wearing the very shirt he gave her. "Please...go away" She said in a somber tone. "Why? What, did I come on too strong?" asked Greg.

"No. I'm flattered, and you're cute...and I really, really want to play with you but..." Rose continued "your life is short and your dreams are big. I can't let you give up on what you want. It wouldn't be fair."

"Well, that's gonna be a problem" said Greg. "Oh?" asked Rose. "You're what I want!" said Greg. Rose was all starstruck, blushing and looking at him with starry eyes.

*present day*

Steven looked at him with a sly grin. "What?" asked Greg. "You liked her!" Steven teased. "Of course I did. If I didn't, you wouldn't be here!" Greg joked, pulling Steven in and ruffling his hair.

Eevee was asleep, Steven may enjoy Greg's stories but Eevee found them boring and always fell asleep. Rillaboom had Eevee on its lap as it slept.

"You know, Marty may have been awful. And I should have done a background check on him when he offered to be my manager" said Greg "but if it weren't for him, I wouldn't have been here and met your mother, he made it easy for me to stay here."

"I'm glad you did" said Steven.

Chapter 2: The Message

Chapter Text

As Steven left his Dad's Van to head home, he hears a sudden loud noise, Pearl's Pikipek and Amethyst's Zoroark came running out due to the loud noise being way more than their sensitive ears can handle.

"Aaaah! What's going on!?" asked Steven. "I dunno! But I've been to heavy metal concerts that were quieter then this!" Greg commented "here, give these to the Pokemon!"

Greg gave Steven several sets of ear plugs "Their ears are more sensitive then ours are" he said. Steven put the ear plugs on all the Pokemon outside their balls.

"Alright, I'm going to see what's going on" said Steven. "Alright, but mind your own ears too, Steven" Greg cautioned. Steven nodded and ran up the stairs.

He saw the sight of the gems covering their "ears", surrounding a device that was the source of the very loud noise. "Guys! What's happening!?" Steven shouted.

"It's The Wailing Stone! It's an old gem communication device! But it just started making this weird noise!" Pearl explained. "Make it stop!" Amethyst complained.

Garnet summoned her gauntlet and pounded hard on the button on top of the stone. For a moment, it was silent, but as soon as Garnet lifted her hand, the stone began wailing again.

Pearl tried putting it in a bubble, and it seemed to work, until the bubble began to inflate and inflate until it blew up. "Maybe we can block the hole!" said Steven.

Steven put his whole arm inside the hole, it seemed to work, until Steven's cheeks began to inflate and he let out a loud autotune sounding shout.

Garnet seemed to got an idea from what Steven did, he placed Steven's arm out of the device and then began stuffing several pillows inside the hole and then placed Steven on top of the button.

"Is this a comment about my weight?" asked Steven. "Now's not the time for jokes, Steven" said Garnet "for thousands of years, this wailing stone had remained dormant. For it to suddenly activate, someone must be sending a message, but we can't decipher it."

"I haven't heard a wailing stone activate since The Rebellion" said Pearl "and I've never heard it sounding like that, it couldn't be a message, it must be malfunctioning! Unless...Amethyst, is this a prank!"

"Are you kidding me!? I've been wanting this thing to shut up!" Amethyst said. "So, what's a wailing stone supposed to sound like?" asked Steven.

"It's supposed to sound like a clear and concise voice" said Pearl "maybe the message is too advanced for it to handle and it's just coming out as distorted audio."

"Wait! If it's audio that's the problem...maybe Dad could fix it!" said Steven. "Greg? I don't know..." said Pearl.

"We've tried everything else, and we can't very well leave the wailing stone as it is" said Garnet "let's give it a shot."

Greg was setting up the audio equipment as per Steven's request as the Gems waited. "Gems and Gentleman, introducing...The Lubitz Cardioid Condenser 680!" Greg announced.

"Hello, Lubitz Cardioid Condenser 680" said Amethyst "I like your honking sponge thing!"

"Now, I don't know much about ancient gem tech" said Greg "but this baby was made in the nineties, so it's probably more contemporary then this wailing stone thing. All I need to do is get this covering into this whole here, connect it to the rest of the equipment, and from there I can mess around with the audio settings until we can unscramble this noise!"

Greg removed the cushions from the wailing stone, causing the noise to start up again briefly until he put the condenser in the hole.

"Well, I hate to admit it, but Greg sounds like he knows what he's talking about" said Pearl. "Of course, I am a professional musician, you know?" said Greg.

"So you had several performances where you got paid?" asked Pearl "and how much merchandise did you sell?" "Well...alright, I'm just a hobbyist" Greg admitted "but I didn't go through my attempt at becoming a pro without learning a thing or two!"

Greg turned a knob and the loud noise began playing louder then normal "GAH! Sorry!" Greg immediately turned it back down. He adjusted various knobs until the audio came out in a more calm and peaceful sound played.

"It sounds like...music" said Greg. "It sounds nice" said Steven. "But it's not supposed to be a song...it's supposed to be a message" said Pearl. "Hang on, I ain't done yet!" said Greg.

Suddenly, it began to sound like a voice "Oh! There it is! I'm beginning to pick up something!" said Pearl. "Wait...something's not right" said Greg "this reminds me of a mistake I once made..."

Suddenly, the equipment and the van short circuited. "What!? No! We were so close!" said Pearl. "Sorry guys, I guess this was more then the van could handle" Greg apologized "battery's fried."

"I had a feeling this wouldn't work" said Pearl "There's just no way Greg's equipment can interface with our ancient Gem Technology." "Ah, come on, Pearl, we got close, we can't give up yet" said Steven.

"Yeah, come on" said Greg "what if it was a video they sent you?"

"A video? Preposterous, if you send a visual message to an audio only receiver all you'll get is...oh you've gotta be kidding me" said Pearl as the sudden realization hit her.

"A video...of course! That reminds me of the time you tried playing your electric guitar when you had it hooked up to the video settings!" said Steven.

"But the battery's outta juice" said Greg "without any power, we can't use any of this equipment." "Let me handle it" said Garnet, holding two jumper cables in her gauntlets.

Greg didn't even need to ask as he hooked up the cables to the van's engine "Here we go" said Greg as he readjusted his equipment's settings.

Like last time he adjusted the knobs until something changed. Suddenly, visual feed began to show up on screen "We're coming close...here it is!"

On screen, was the familiar face of "Lapis Lazuli!" Steven and The Gems Exclaimed. "Steven!" Lapis said in the video. "I don't believe it! Greg was right!" said Pearl.

"Everyone, keep quiet and listen!" Garnet ordered.

"I hope this message has found you, Steven" said Lapis "There's a gem that's looking for you and your friend! She even knows your name and hers! I don't know how, I didn't tell her, I swear! She's on her way to Earth, and she's not alone. Homeworld's not the way it used to be! Everything here's so advanced! I can't even understand it! There's no way anything on Earth can stand up to it! Please! Don't put up a fight! It will only lead to devastation!"

"It's Peridot! She must be talking about Peridot!" said Pearl. "What do we do!?" Amethyst freaked out. "We've got the message" said Garnet. "But, Garnet-" said Amethyst but she was interrupted by Garnet smashing the wailing stone.

"Message got. We did it" said Garnet "Thank you, Greg. Without your efforts, we wouldn't have solved this." "Erm, well, I'm glad my expertise in this sort of stuff wasn't a complete waist" said Greg.

The Gems were looking at one another in worry. "Eevee, vee vee, Eevee?" Eevee murmured as if to say "We're screwed, aren't we?" to Rillaboom. Rillaboom nodded and signed in sign language "Yup. Big time."

Chapter 3: The Return

Chapter Text

It was a beautiful evening in Beach City. Hardly a cloud in the blissful orange sky, the ocean was sparkling, the boardwalk had its usual summer hustle and bustle, and Steven and Eevee were slowly slamming their fists on the counter of Beach Citywalk Fries demanding "The bits! The bits!" Greg was with them.

Before they could chant "The bits!" for the third time, a bag of fry bits was placed right in front of 'em. "Whoa! That was fast" said Steven.

"Eh, you're here almost everyday around this time" said Peedee. "Hey, where's your Dad? You closing up all by yourself tonight?" asked Greg who just happened to be passing by.

"Yup! It's just me tonight" said Peedee. "That's a lot of responsibility for someone your age. Your dad must really trust you" said Greg. "Don't patronize me, sir" said Peedee in an unamused tone.

Steven said farewell to Peedee as they headed back towards the beach. Eevee was hopping around Steven in circles "Eevee! Eevee! Eevee vee!" it barked as if to say "The bits! The bits! Gimme some! Now!"

"Come on, Eevee, be patient" said Steven "you'll have your bits when we get home." "Vee vee veeeeee!" Eevee moaned as if to say "but that'll take foreeeeever!"

"Heh heh" Greg chuckled "and to think, Eevee started out as the mature one between the two of you." "He did?" asked Steven.

"Yeah, back when you were a baby" said Greg "why, I remember back when it first hatched from its egg, right after you were born. The first thing it did was make its way towards you and put its paw on you, you immediately stopped crying when that happened."

"It's funny how nobody can remember the moment they were born" said Steven. "Eh, probably for the best. I think being born must be a traumatic experience or something" said Greg "oh, what were you saying earlier?

"Oh! Peridot! That's right!" said Steven "she's been shooting these weird robots from space and when you mash them, they explode into goo!"

Eevee took advantage of Steven's distracted moment and leapt up and swiped the fry bits out of his hand and onto the ground, immediately putting its head in the bag.

"Hey!" said Steven pulling Eevee out of the bag. Eevee's cheeks were full of fry bits as a satisfied expression brimmed on its face

"You know, this is sounding kind of scary" said Greg "You know...I'm not sure if...do you ever feel like this gem stuff is too much for you?"

Before Steven could answer, he felt a rumbling so powerful, it shattered the glass of all nearby windows in town. Steven and Greg looked up to the sky and noticed a huge green hand approaching from the atmosphere.

"What is that?" asked Greg. "It looks like a giant hand!" said Steven. Eevee was shocked too, but took advantage of the situation and scarfed down some more fry bits.

Meanwhile in Castelia City, at the Legend Watch Unova Branch Headquarters, the chief of the Unova Branch, Nate, got a call. "Hello? Oh! Iris! Oh, I mean, Chairwoman Iris, what can I do for you?

"Are you seeing what's in the sky right now?" Iris's voice asked from the other end of the line. "Oh yes, I see it, I was just about to deploy some agents from our Gem Watch Division" Nate answered.

"Hold that call. These Crystal Gems proclaim themselves as The Guardians of Humanity, if they are who they say they are, let's give them a chance" said Iris.

"Are you sure that's wise, Chairwoman? What if they can't do it?" asked Nate.

"That's why I want your troops on standby, ready for action. If things turn sour for the Crystal Gems, we need to be ready. How's Reshiram doing?" asked Iris.

"Ready for action at the moment's notice" said Nate. "When this is over, I am meeting with the Pokemon Assosiation's M9, I need you with me as co-representative, it's time The Crystal Gems learn to cooperate with the very people they're defending."

The Pokemon Assosiateion M9 is a term for the Pokemon League chairpeople for the Pokemon Leagues of the nine major regions of the world, Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola (a recent addition), Galar, and Paldea.

The M9 usually have big summit meetings to discuss pressing issues regarding the world as a whole, usually matters of public safety, the environment and the like.

The Pokemon Association as a whole has representatives from all regions across the world, acting as a sort of pseudo-government for the entire world, and the M9 are basically the coalition of the major nine regions that run the association.

The Pokemon Association rarely interferes with the affairs of any region unless absolutely necessary, so as to retain the sovereignty of all regions.

Nate hung up, understanding the situation and deployed a Rotom Drone "Alright, Crystal Gems, I'm giving you guys the benefit of the doubt. You guys better know what you're doing..."

Chapter 4: Evacuation

Chapter Text

The local regional police had ordered an evacuation of the town as the ominous green hand grew closer and closer. Peedee was holding on for dear life as Mr. Fryman tried to pry him loose from the store.

"Come on, Peedee! Ronaldo! Help me with your brother!" said Mr. Fryman struggling to get his son to leave. Steven saw Greg packing his van.

"Don't worry, Dad" said Steven "we'll make sure you'll be able to come back soon! Those Homeworld Gems won't know what-" Steven noticed Greg putting his cheeseburger backpack and Hot Dog Duffle bag in the back of the van with his stuff.

"Why are you packing my luggage? And are those my Pokemon's Pokeballs!?" asked Steven. "Eevee? Eevee vee?" Eevee murmured as if to say "Really? Can't take a hint?" "Who's gonna tell him?" asked Greg.

"Don't look at me, I'm no good with this stuff" said Amethyst. Garnet kneeled down and looked Steven in the eye "Steven, it's not that we don't trust you, and more often than not we treat you like you're still a little kid, but the truth is, we really do rely on you. You're a more brilliant tactician than you might realize. You've also been a voice of reason at times. You're the most valuable member of the team, a living reminder of why we promised to protect this planet and what your mother saw in the life on this planet. And now, you must be those things for them."

Garnet gestured towards the towns people who were all confused and evacuating. "If anything happens to us, we need you to guide them, just like your mother guided us" said Garnet.

"Okay...I'll try" said Steven "but...please, please, just win this. Win this, for me." "Of course we will. We'll do whatever it takes to win" Garnet assured him.

"Oh! And could you do us one little favor" asked Pearl who handed Steven a Pokeball "please take good care of Pikipek for me. Make sure he gets fed at the proper meal times."

Amethyst also handed Steven a Pokeball "Take care of Zoroark too. He's the only one who ever truly gets me besides you. I want the both of you to be alright."

Steven nodded and reluctantly headed into the van and Greg drove off. "We did everything we could. All right!! Let's pull ourselves together" said Garnet.

The drive to the designated evacuation sight was awkward. "Maybe when Peridot lands here, she'll see how nice all the people are and leave us alone?" Steven guessed.

"Heh, just like your mother" said Greg, forcing a smile "but no, Homeworld Gems are nothing like your mother. They aren't like Garnet, Amethyst or Pearl either. Your mother didn't say a lot about gem stuff, but she told me enough. They aren't going to start caring about people now, they didn't the first time..."

"What first time?" asked Steven. "I mean, it was thousands of years ago" said Greg "It-it's not like I was there, it's just...the gems should be the ones telling you this stuff, not me. They don't want you thinking of them like that."

"Thinking of them like what?" "Like aliens, Steven. Aliens who invaded Earth!" said Greg. "But I know about some of that stuff" said Steven.

"Yeah, but I don't think you know the whole story" said Greg "they keep trying to make up for what they did. They just can't forgive themselves, understand? They were doing something awful to the planet and your mother couldn't take it anymore. She told me that's why she went against her own kind! She did everything she could to get them to stop what they started and drive all the Homeworld gems off earth!"

"And she saved the world, right?" asked Steven "then, that's good." "There's nothing good about war, kiddo" said Greg "gems were destroyed, people and Pokemon too. In the end, your mother could only save a few of her closest friends. If it weren't for her shield than, man, I don't know."

Steven seemed overwhelmed by all this and Greg was quick to distract him "Oh! Hey! We're passing by that waffle place in a few miles! Remember we used to go there for breakfast a lot when you were little?"

"Dad, we have to back!!!" said Steven "turn the van around!!!" "No way! The gems don't want you going back!" said Greg.

"I know they're trying to protect me! But I want to protect them! I have mom's shield! They need me!" said Steven. "I need you too! So do your Pokemon!" said Greg.

"I can bring them with me!" said Steven. "NO! It's too dangerous! I won't allow it!!!" said Greg "sorry bud, but...I just...I love you, son." "I love you too..." said Steven.

Eventually they pulled into the designated evacuation site. It was a community center in Undella Town, the next town over from Beach City. A police officer was awaiting everyone.

"Alright, everyone, I understand leaving your home so abruptly can be very confusing and frustrating and I simply ask for your patience" said The Police Officer "This will be your temporary shelter until the situation at Beach City is cleared. As of right now we have no information or estimated time for when you can go home. There is more than enough food and water for everyone and their Pokemon. Also, you are free to leave the community center and explore Undella town at your leisure and buy your own supplies from any of the local stores if you feel the need to. We'll bring you any and all updates on the situation with your hometown as they come. Until then, please don't try and go back until we say it's alright, and again, you have freedom to explore Undella town."

"This isn't so bad, eh Steven? I mean, Undella Town's a bit too ritzy for me but hey, let's just make the most of it. I'm sure The gems will be fine."

Later that night, Steven couldn't sleep. Greg was too worried about Steven to allow him to go back, but Steven felt this sense of duty to help the gems.

He got up from his cot and looked down at his sleeping father and sleeping Eevee. "Sorry, bud. I know you're my Pokemon partner, but I need you to work together with his Rillaboom and my other Pokemon to take care of him" he whispered.

Steven snuck out of the community center when he saw a portal open, it was Pyroar. Steven hopped on Pyroar "Thanks Pyroar..." said Steven as he hopped on and Pyroar warped off.

Chapter 5: They're Heeeeere.

Chapter Text

Eevee was shuffling around in its sleep, it felt something missing. In its mind, it was dreaming of a dark empty space, in it, it felt a sense of warmth accompanied by a female voice "Do you feel that, little one? That's my son Steven in there, I hope the two of you will get along. I can't be there for him once he's born, but I hope you will be."

And then, the dark empty space was disrupted by several cracks of light as it struggled to break out of it. It was a memory of itself hatching from its egg, Eevee heard crying too, in the dream.

"Rilla! Rillaboom!" The sound of a Rillaboom called. "Oh! Would you look at that! Everyone's being born, today!" said The voice of Greg over the sound of a crying baby.

Its vision cleared and Eevee could see clearly and noticed the man it would know as "Dad" that the gems called "Greg", and in his hands was the young baby who would grow to become Eevee's trainer in the present day.

"Hey...Steven, look! The Pokemon Egg your mother got for you hatched, you've got an Eevee" said Greg. Eevee crawled its way towards Greg, crawling onto his lap and towards Baby Steven.

Eevee gently placed one paw upon the newborn Steven, which seemed to quiet him, just a little. Eevee kept its paw on Steven until he stopped crying altogether.

The newborn Steven then smiled at Eevee slightly. "Hey, would you look at that, you two are getting along already!" said Greg.

The dream then flashed to Steven in various forms of development, all memories of him and Eevee playing together, stopping at one core memory of Steven as a toddler, hugging Eevee.

"I love you, Eevee!" The little Steven said.

Suddenly, Eevee woke up from the dream, it looked around for Steven but he was nowhere to be seen. That's when a sudden realization hit it! Steven must have gone back to Beach City.

Eevee hopped off the cot it was sharing with Steven and ran out the door, headed back in the direction of Beach City as fast as its little paws could take it.

Eevee has never run as fast as this before, but it ignored the fatigue and kept soldering on, it's face painted with the expression of desperation.

Meanwhile, as Pyroar was running towards the Beach after warping to Beach City, Steven decided to leave Connie a message on her Rotom Phone.

"Connie, it's me, Steven. Just calling to see what's up. I don't know if you knew but there's a giant space hand coming down from the sky and I don't know what will happen when it touches down, uh, I guess, call me right back as soon as you get this, see you soon, bye!"

As soon they were at The Beach, they saw that the gems had the triple laser light cannon setup all prepped. Steven turned to Pyroar "Pyroar, I need you to go back to the shelter, if I don't make it back, Dad will need a new son and Eevee will need a new brother."

Garnet and Amethyst and Pearl's fusion, Opal were standing at ready. "Fire!" Garnet ordered as Opal let loose a barrage of light arrows towards the hand, but nothing worked.

The decent of the Giant Hand became faster and faster, as it got closer and closer. Garnet and Opal were completely helpless "At least Steven's safe" said Garnet.

"Hey guys!" Steven called out. "Steven!?" Garnet and Opal exclaimed. In shock, Opal split back into Pearl and Amethyst. "You came back!" said Amethyst.

"What are you doing!? Get out of here!" said Pearl. "It's too late! Stay behind us" Garnet added. Suddenly, the hand touched down and a bubble appeared on the hand's palm.

When it dissipated, there was Lapis Lazuli in shackles, Peridot and a menacing looking orange gem. "That's them alright. They're the ones who keep breaking my machines!" said Peridot, like a brat tattling to their parent.

"This is it?" The orange gem scoffed. "Jasper! They keep interfering with my work!" Peridot complained. "Looks like another waste of my time. Get over here!" Jasper pulled Lapis by the arm.

"Lapis!" Steven called out in worry. "Is this their base?" Jasper interrogated. "Yes..." Lapis sighed. "You need to leave immediately" Garnet ordered. "Yeah! Step off!" said Amethyst.

"This is not a gem controlled planet!" Pearl proclaimed.

Jasper let go of Lapis, leapt off one of the ship's fingers and onto the Beach "And none of you is Rose Quartz? What a shame, I hoped to meet her. I was looking forward to beating her into the ground!"

Steven cringed at that comment, due to him having the Rose Quartz Gemstone. "But this is what's left of her army? Some lost defective pearl, a puny overcooked runt, and this shameless display?" Jasper then noticed Steven "and what's that?"

"It calls itself "The Steven", I believe" Peridot informed her. "He's just a human! He isn't a threat! He's not one of them!" Lapis pleaded.

"I know what a human is. You don't need me for this. Just blast them with the ship" Jasper grumbled. "Ugh. Fine" Peridot groaned. A single finger on the ship pointed to the gems.

Peridot's fingers were pentagonal formation, forming a screen, Peridot drew a circle on the screen and the finger was ready to fire a giant laser beam.

"Steven! Get out of here!" said Garnet. "No!" said Steven. "I won't let you risk your life!" Garnet argued. "No! This is my home, and you're all my family!" Steven declared as his gem began to shine.

"Firing" said Peridot as a huge beam fired from the finger of the ship "I'm a Crystal Gem too!" Steven jumped at the beam! The gems gasped in horror as it looked like a direct hit.

But to their surprise, the beam was blocked...blocked by a shield, HIS shield! "That shield, that symbol!" Jasper gasped. Steven moaned as his shield dissipated, this was the second time he had summoned it and it wasn't nearly as big the first time as it was just now, and getting it that big must have taken a lot of energy.

"You! You have the power of Rose Quartz!!" said Jasper. "Now do you believe me when I said I needed an escort?" asked Peridot. Fire a barrage! Widespread!" Jasper ordered.

Again, the laser was about to fire a beam as Garnet pushed Steven out of the way. The beam moved in a crescent moon path, causing a huge explosion.

"Rose! Why do you look like that!? Why are you so weak!?" Jasper growled. "Stop! Don't hurt him!" Lapis begged. "You knew about this!" Jasper snarled at Lapis.

"It wasn't relevant to the mission" Lapis said as an excuse. "Forget the mission! Yellow Diamond needs to see this...thing" Jasper said to Garnet.

Garnet charged towards Jasper. Jasper grinned maliciously as a sort of crash helmet materialized on her head and blocked Garnet's punch with it "Priming gem destabilizer" Jasper said.

Jasper jammed an electrical rod like device into Garnet, causing yellow lines to appear all throughout her body, causing it to fall apart.

In a puff of smoke, there was now a Garnet shaped crater in the ground. Two gemstones, one red and one blue were where her hands were. "Nooooo!" Steven cried.

Meanwhile at Legend Watch Unova Headquarters, Nate out away his Rotom Phone after looking at the live feed from the rotom drone "I've seen enough" he said as he took the elevator to the rooftop.

He took out an Ultra Ball and released Reshiram from it "Reshiram, time to take action" he said as he hopped on top of it.

And at the Legend Sky Pillar Research Station, "Ma'am! Rayquaza's woken up! It's taking off!" one of the workers there said. "Good. Just in time" said Sky Pillar Research Station Chief Zinnia "No doubt Lord Rayquaza's headed for the Unova region concerning that green hand from the stars."

Back at Beach City, Jasper was approaching Steven "I was there, you know. At the first war for this garbage planet. I fought against your armies, I respected your tactics. But this?" She lifted him by his shirt "this is sick!"

"Unhand him!" said Pearl. "I don't know what you're planning, Rose, but look! Your base is captured! Your armies are ruined. You have-" Jasper got interrupted by a barrage of star like energy pellets striking her at the back.

The barrage was from none other than "Eevee!" Steven cried out in relief. "Interloping pest!" Peridot prepped to fire a beam when Eevee unleashed another swift attack at Peridot, sending her flying.

Jasper approached Eevee "I forgot how capable some of the useless organics here are...too bad you're one of the weaker ones" Jasper kicked Eevee hard, ran after it and began stomping on it.

"No! Stop!" Steven cried out, running towards Jasper "Aw, what's the matter Rose? Afraid I'll crush your puny little organic friend?" Jasper mocked before laughing.

"VEE!" Eevee cried as it leapt up bathed in energy, striking Jasper right in the face "No! Eevee! Don't use double edge! She's already hurt you enough!" Steven called out in worry.

Jasper was sent sliding back a few feet but stopped herself "Okay, gotta admit...you're a little bit strong for an organic...but look at you" Jasper grinned.

Steven looked at Eevee's condition, it was battered and bruised, one leg appeared to be broken and it was struggling to stay up "In your condition, a gust of wind could be fatal" Jasper continued to mock.

Eevee snarled at Jasper and let out a desperate roar of "EEEEEEEEEEEON!" as it's body was bathed in a different kind of energy, its fur changing color, it's body growing slightly, various parts of its body changing shape!

In one big flash, Eevee's fur now had a beige, pink, and blue motif to it, its eyes now sky blue, and two bows with ribbon like feelers on its left ear and around where its neck is.

"You...evolved" said Steven.

Chapter 6: Evolution And A Fusion

Chapter Text

"Eevee...you evolved!" Steven said in awe. "So what? You changed your appearance, big whoop" Jasper said sarcastically. Eevee, now Sylveon began charging up a new attack, Moonblast!

A shining ball of light, resembling the full moon but with a pink hue surrounding it, struck Jasper point blank, knocking her down. "Whoa! New moves too!" Steven commented.

"Urgh...Oh, now I get it, it's not just your appearance that's changed, you also got stronger" Jasper commented "not bad for a puny organic...but the damage to your body's already been done."

Steven took another look at Sylveon, and Jasper was right, Sylveon's injuries it sustained as an Eevee just a minute ago were still present, the bruises, the bleeding, the broken leg.

Sylveon was gasping with each breath, its expression was that of total exhaustion, the poor Pokemon was running on pure adrenaline at this point, but even that would not keep it going for long.

"So weak, might as well do it a mercy and put it out of its pathetic misery" said Jasper as she began charging into what appeared to be a spin dash.

"Nooooooooo!" Steven dived towards Sylveon and held it tight, just in time, rolling both himself and Sylveon out of Jasper's path, but as Steven's body rolled, it began to glow a bright pink light.

Jasper got out of the spin dash and noticed it. Amethyst and Pearl saw it too "P, you don't think...?" "No, it can't be! I mean, with Connie it was because he was part human but Eevee, or Sylveon now, is a different species altogether.

But regardless, a huge puff of pink smoke suddenly materialized, along with five other puffs of smoke, four shaped shaped like letters spelling out the word "POOF"  and the fifth one resembled an exclamation mark, making it "POOF!"

When the cloud dissipated, a new fusion was formed, with a slyveon tail, Steven's hair now pink, with a set of Sylveon ears on his head, his forearms had Sylveon fur on them, as did his lower legs and his eyes, sky blue.

The new fusion began to grin and began laughing wildly as if being tickled, springing onto his feet "Steveon!" he cried with jovial glee.

"You would fuse...with a lower lifeform than a human!?" Jasper growled. "Awwww, is somebody grumpy?" Steveon teased. Jasper ran up and punched Steveon in the face!

The impact caused Steveon's head to go flying, his neck elongating, as if Jasper smacked the ball of a paddle ball.

At the beach, Garnet's two gems began to glow and reformed into two small gems. Before the two new gems could say anything, Steveon's head suddenly appeared in front of them.

Steveon screamed, his eyes popping out of their sockets and enlarging, just like in a cartoon. Immediately, Steveon's head sprung back all the way to Jasper, striking her square in the face, sending her flying due to the momentum.

"Fusion...fusion's just a cheap trick to make weak gems stronger!" Jasper growled. "Kiss my ass!" Steveon responded, shaking his posterior at her.

Jasper charged at the new fusion of trainer and Pokemon head first with crash helmet fully armed. Steveon began running in place, moving his feet so fast, the motion blur looked like the symbol for infinity.

The sand Steveon kicked up whilst running in place buried Jasper waist deep in sand as her target dashed off. "You dare mock me, Rose!?" Jasper kicked all the sand away and gave chase.

"Come on! Come and get me!" Steveon taunted before he noticed Jasper was gaining on him, screaming in shock with his eyes cartoonishly popping out.

Quickly, Steveon's tail went into a coil like formation as he lifted his feet in the air, using the tail's spring like formation launch himself into the air, dodging Jasper's next attack just in time.

Steveon was now sticking to the cliff wall, right above the roof of the Beach House. "I'm seeing this, but I don't believe this" said Pearl. "Man! Fusing with a Pokemon, Steven's full of surprises" said Amethyst.

"Fight me properly, Rose! I'm tired of playing this stupid game!" Jasper roared. Steveon began to compress himself, as if prepping to launch himself.

"This fusion is unstable" said one of the two gems that emerged from Garnet's gems. "Sapphire!?" Pearl and Amethyst exclaimed.

"It's a combination of two and a half different species" said Sapphire "gem power and Pokemon power are two very different sets of power."

Meanwhile, Steveon was still compressing himself "Three..." Jasper prepped herself "Two...one! ZERO!" launching himself forward, with dust clouds spelling out the word "SPRONG!" Steveon was laughing jovially, spinning his arms like a propellor, headed straight to Jasper.

Steveon let loose one powerful punch against Jasper's face, a punch so hard it caused Jasper's face to invert as Steveon's fist got even deeper into Jasper's head, the outline of it began popping through the other side, as if Steveon was punching rubber.

And with a "BOING!" Jasper was sent flying all the way back to the palm of the ship, crashing into Lapis Lazuli. Jasper was moaning in pain. Steveon was laughing at his own victory "Hee hee! Fun fun fun! Fight fight!" and continued on jovially laughing.

"Ruby, we need to get back together and snap Steven and Eevee out of their fusion" said Sapphire "this fusion's behavior is too erratic. If they remain fused for too long, they'll be overwhelmed by their own power."

Meanwhile Steveon continued laughing his head off. "That's it...Peridot...fire all cannons!" Jasper ordered. "With pleasure!" said Peridot, making another swipe on her "tablet" screen.

This time, all five fingers were lit up, prepared to fire. Steveon noticed and began spasming in such a way that his body went off model several times before his eyes cartoonishly popped out of his skull and his jaw cartoonishly unhinged.

"Fire!" Jasper ordered. The five cannons combined their lasers, making one huge blast. Steveon reached into Steven's gem, pulling out Steven's shield, frantically stretching it out like it was pizza dough.

He kept stretching until it was about the size of a huge wall. Upon the laser's impact, the shield began to concave, like the laser was hitting rubber. "Comeoncomeoncomeoncomeon!" Steveon growled "GOOOO!"

SPRONG!!!!!! Like elastic, Steveon's shield snapped back, deflecting the laser blast back towards the ship. Unbeknownst to Peridot and Jasper, Lapis's shackles were undone when Jasper crashed into her, the impact with the wall of the ship behind her must have broke the shackles.

They had no idea Lapis was long gone from the scene. The ship now had taken slight damage from its own blast "And for my next trick!" Steveon summoned another shield, but it was glowing on the edges "Moonblast style buzzsaw shield!"

Steveon threw the powered up shield like a frisbee, slicing each of the fingers off the hand ship.

"Peridot! We must retreat! We have to return to Homeworld with another-huh?" Jasper noticed that Peridot was gone, as an escape pod secretly launched itself from the ship.

"Fine! I can handle this myself! I am the perfect quartz! I'm ready for anything! I'll take you all on! You'd need a miracle to come from the sky to defeat me!" Jasper declared.

Behind her though, yellow glowing markings appeared over the ship, they were part of a green, serpentine, Pokemon, Rayquaza. It let out a cry to get Jasper's attention. Jasper yelped at the sight of it

"And it's not alone!" said a man's voice. Jasper looked to the north and saw a young man, Nate, The Chief of Legend Watch Unova Branch, riding atop Reshiram.

Amethyst immediately had a traumatic flashback of the time she first came into existence and saw Reshiram fighting its counterpart, Zekrom, and immediately hid behind Pearl.

"Under the authority vested in me by the Pokemon Assosiation, you are under arrest!" said Nate. "Never!" Jasper stubbornly resisted. Nate and Reshiram looked to Rayquaza and nodded.

Rayquaza blasted a hyper beam at the hand ship, causing it to blow up, the explosion caused Jasper's gem to go flying up into the sky. Nate managed to catch it.

"Well, you didn't get to see any action, but our work here is done...until tomorrow, that is" said Nate. Reshiram flew off back in the direction it came.

Rayquaza flew off in the opposite direction. "We did it...we actually did it" said Amethyst. "I know, I feared for the worst when Garnet got poofed" said Pearl "so, what do we do about him?"

Pearl and Amethyst looked towards Steveon who was looking all over and sniffing every surface near him "Didn't have enough fun. Need more fight!" Steveon muttured

"No worries, I got this" said Garnet "Sylveon! Sylveon, over here! I've got treats!. Steveon suddenly started spasming as its fusion became undone and Slyveon came dashing towards Garnet.

"Hey, where'd its injuries go?" asked Amethyst. "Yeah, it was so battered and bruised before, what happened?" asked Pearl. That's when they noticed Steven lying on the ground.

"Steven!" Amethyst and Pearl shouted. "The fusion must have transferred Eevee's injuries to him!" Pearl said as they rushed over, but as soon as they got close enough, they could hear him snoring.

Steven was sleeping deeply on the sand, much to their relief. "Oh, I guess he was just tuckered out" said Pearl.

"I don't blame him" said Garnet "Being part of an unstable fusion, plus his healing powers unintentionally working on his Pokemon, not to mention all the energy he must have used in that fight. No wonder he's all tuckered out. Let's get him to bed, we'll discuss what happened tonight in the morning."

Chapter 7: The Crystal Gems Meet The M9

Chapter Text

Steven let out a huge yawn as he woke up from what appeared to be a peaceful slumber and noticed he was in his bed in The Beach House "Huh? Whaaa!? The Battle! Eevee!? What happened!?"

"I'm fine and we won!" He heard an unfamiliar voice answer. Steven looked and saw at the foot of his bed, Sylveon. "Oh, that's right, you evolved now! Hey, what happened to your injuries!?" Steven asked.

"I dunno, after we fused, they were sorta, just gone" said Sylveon. "Maybe my healing powers are...hey wait a minute...SINCE WHEN CAN YOU TALK!?" Steven exclaimed.

"What do you mean?" asked Sylveon. "Slyveon, I can understand you! Just now you were asking me "what do you mean?" Sylveon!" said Steven.

"Holy crap! You CAN understand me!? This is weird!" said Slyveon. "It must be because we fused! That's gotta be it!" said Steven.

"This is so cool! This is like that movie, Detective Pikachu!" Steven said excitedly. "Well, since we can understand each other..." said Sylveon who then smacked him with one of its feelers.

"Ow! What was that for!?" asked Steven. "That's for making me worry! Why!? Why would you sneak off into danger like that!?" Sylveon barked "do you have any idea how scared I was!?"

"I just...I just wanted to protect you, I didn't want anything to happen to you" Steven feebly argued.

"And you didn't stop to think I may have felt the same way!? Do you have any idea how many people care about you!? We may not be related or the same species, but you're like a brother to me!" said Sylveon.

Steven didn't know what to say. "And your other Pokemon, Diancie and Pyroar, they care about you too...okay, Pyroar's a bit cryptic and weird but he cares too! And what about Dad and Connie!? Please...don't do that again!"

Sylveon hugged Steven with its ribbonlike feelers, silently sobbing. "I....I'm sorry. I just, I...I didn't know what I was thinking, I'm so sorry" Steven tearfully said.

Suddenly, he heard his phone ring "Connie!" said Steven. He picked up his phone "Steven! I just got your message, is everything alright!?" "Things were...heavy for a while" said Steven.

"Why? What happened?" asked Connie. Steven went over in detail everything that happened last night. Connie silently listened to every word.

"That's heavy..." said Connie. "Yeah, especially now that they think I'm my mom and they're blaming me for what she did..." said Steven.

"Well, I'm glad you trust me enough to talk to me about this" said Connie. "Are you sure? I did just dump a lot of heavy stuff onto you" said Steven.

"Hey, we're friends, right?" said Connie "I'm sure you'd listen to me if I had some heavy stuff." "Of course I would" said Steven "hey, you want to know what else happened? Me and Sylveon fused!"

"Really? With a Pokemon?" asked Connie. "Yeah! And just now, I found out I can actually talk to him, I can understand what he's saying!" said Steven.

"I guess that would make sense since you and him were one being for a moment" said Connie.

"The weirdest thing is...I don't even remember what happened while me and Sylveon were fused, it was like a fever dream. I honestly can't believe you actually believed me when I said I can understand Sylveon."

"Well, you are a magical half gem boy who goes on all sorts of wild adventures, It's kind of hard not to believe anything you tell me no matter how fantastical it may seem" said Connie.

"Good morning, Steven" said Garnet who had just got into the room. "Garnet! You're okay!" Steven celebrated at the sight of Garnet "I thought you were..."

"No, that device just destabilized by physical form. It was no different than when Pearl got stabbed. As long as my gems remain intact, I should be fine" said Garnet.

"Well, I got to get breakfast before morning classes, we can continue talking about this later this evening" said Connie. "Okay, bye Connie!" said Steven.

"Speaking of breakfast, let's get you some" said Garnet "I bet you and Eevee are starving. Oh! I mean Sylveon!"

At breakfast, Steven was eating a Together Breakfast with Garnet and Amethyst, whilst Sylveon was enjoying a delicious blend of berries, eating the berries rather messily.

"Those bow like growths and ribbon like feelers make you look dapper. I just wish you'd eat in a more dapper fashion" Pearl criticized the Pokemon

Sylveon then used its ribbonlike feelers to grab the ribbon at Pearl's backside and wiped its face with it, like a posh gentlemen. Pearl took her ribbon away from Sylveon "Smart aleck!"

As Pearl turned her back to Sylveon and wiped the ribbon off her back clean, she heard Sylveon blow a raspberry at her. She quickly turned around, but Sylveon was just quietly sitting there with an innocent expression on its face.

A knocking was heard at the door, Garnet went to answer it. Several people were on the porch. "May we help you?" asked Pearl.

"We're the Pokemon association's M9, we represent the nine major regions of the world" said a young woman "my name is Iris, former Gym Leader, Champion and current chairwoman of The Pokemon League, I'm sure you're already familiar with Nate, Chief of Unova's Legend Watch Branch."

Another woman stepped forward "And I am Geeta, chairwoman of Paldea's Pokemon League, with me is Rika of the Paldea Elite Four and administrator of the Champion Rank Test."

"I'm Leon, Chairman of the Galar League, with me is my wife, esteemed Pokemon Professor Sonia Magnolia" A man with long purple hair introduced himself.

"Wallace, representing The Hoenn Region Pokemon League" said a flamboyant looking man "with me is former chairman Steven Stone."

"Professor Kukui, Alola League Chairman, with me is Alola's first ever and current sitting champion" A man wearing a lab coat with no shirt underneath introduced himself.

"Cynthia, chairwoman of The Sinnoh League" a blonde woman introduced himself "With me is the retired Professor Rowan, former chairman of the Sinnoh League."

"Professor Sycamore, Chairman of The Kalos League. With my assistants, Sina and Dexio" A researcher with messy hair introduced himself.

"Indigo Plateau Chairman on the Johto side, Lance" A man with a cape said. "And I am Samuel Oak, Indigo Plateau Chairman representing Kanto" An elderly man introduced himself.

"Well, that's nice, but we don't have any time for any silly surveys" said Pearl "besides, it is much too dangerous on this beach, there is debris of a gem ship and humans should not be near it."

"Actually, that's what we wish to talk to you about" said Geeta. "You allowed a Gem Ship to land on our planet" said Iris "I'm afraid we can't leave you to your own devices anymore."

"Now, now, I know you're concerned. But we have this situation under control" said Pearl "why don't you all go back to regulating Pokemon battles or whatever it is you humans do, okay."

"Oh. I see, because our race isn't as technologically advanced as yours is, we are lesser beings, you think we're stupid, huh?" Rika analyzed.

"I...I never said "stupid", but I did say we have this situation under control" said Pearl. "Really? Does this look like "under control" to you?" said Nate, pointing to the ship's debris.

"Now, now, let's not get our tempers up" said Cynthia "however, I know you don't think of us as advanced as you are, but I'm afraid you Crystal Gems are going to have to let us get involved in your affairs, considering you're the defenders of Earth as you so claim to be. Earth is our home, we were born and raised here, and keeping it safe is in our best interest. So...let's continue this conversation inside...after all, Iris is correct, we can't leave you to your own devices anymore. How about we continue this inside?"

"Wait!" another man chimed in "I haven't gotten a chance to introduce myself yet!" "Oh! Sorry Mr. Cyrano " Iris apologized.

"Greetings, I'm Cyrano, director of Blueberry academy, and I...have no idea why I was invited here!" Cyrano said in a very serious tone. Everyone did a face fault like in an anime whenever people say something stupid.
