Sweeney stood still staring at the bloody, lifeless body of the man he once loved, Adolfo Pirelli.
Todd and Pirelli went way back, far before the wrongful conviction of Sweeney Todd, formerly known as Benjamin Barker.
When Todd knew Pirelli, they were young, Adolfo Pirelli, better known as Daniel O’Higgins at the time, was just an Irish man looking for a job in London.
Sweeney Todd, who was known as Benjamin Barker before his conviction, had hired O’Higgins to work as an assistant in his barber shop on Fleet Street.

Benjamin Barker had been sweeping the floor of his barber shop when he heard knock upon the door.
“Who could possibly be knocking on my door at this hour.” Barker said to himself “Don’t they know my shop is closed?”
Despite his aggravation, Barker opened the door.
“Hello?” Barker stared at the stranger in his doorway.
“Hello, my name is Daniel O’Higgins, Danny when it’s not professional. I am looking for a job and I was wondering if you would be willing to hire me.”
Barker observed the man which he now knows as Daniel O’Higgins. He stood at approximately 6’1” with short, neatly laid brown hair, a nicely trimmed mustache, and a faint shadow of a beard, as if he had forgotten to shave that morning. He was wearing a dark green vest over a white button up shirt, light brown pants that looked a little dirty, and black shoes that desperately needed to be polished.
“How well can you shave a face?” Barker asked as he walked over to his chair.
“Quite well, sir.” Daniel walked into the room and looked around, as he looked, he noticed the razors placed neatly on a chest in the corner of the room. “These are very fine razors Mr. Barker.”
Barker turned to Daniel “Thank you, they are my favorite. Do not touch them.”
O’Higgins simply nodded at that and walked away from the razors to stand in the middle of the room, awaiting further instructions.
“You’re hired. Can you finish sweeping the floor?” Barker said, facing away from Daniel.
“Alright.” Daniel begins sweeping the floor with a strong focus on getting the floor as clean as possible.
