Chapter Text
Jinafire and Skelita had been dating for a month. Everything was going wonderfully; most of their friends knew about their relationship and were head over heels in love.
It turned out that, after a few months of friendship, they had finally realized their feelings for each other. And it couldn't be better than that.
After the bell rang, during recess, they sat with several of their friends: Clawdeen, Catrine, Robecca, and Venus.
"Hey, ghouls!" said Clawdeen, visibly much calmer and happier since she started dating Toralei.
After talking for a while, Clawdeen and Jinafire began planning a new design while Catrine tried to visualize it and sketched it in her notebook. Robecca and Venus listened, though, of course, they were absorbed in their own little world of love. They hugged and glanced at each other constantly to make sure they were on the same page.
After gazing into each other's eyes for a moment, they couldn't resist and shared a soft, tender kiss on the lips. The other ghouls paused to watch. Then, they began to smile and laugh.
"You two can't go a single second without showing each other love," Clawdeen said, giggling.
Jinafire simply smiled, taking it all in, as she held the hand of the sweet ghoul beside her.
Skelita did too, but in reality... a whirlwind of thoughts swirled in her head. If she thought about it, almost all couples kissed. And if the beautiful Chinese dragon was already her girlfriend, that meant...
At some point, she would have to kiss her.
She began to blush slightly (yes, she had organs, but they were invisible, which is why her face flushed so easily) and, to hide it, she hugged Jinafire. The other girls practically melted with tenderness. She returned the hug immediately, clinging to her with all her might.
"Well, goodbye, ghoul friends, I have to go... to do something," Clawdeen said, blushing. And, of course, the others knew she was going to meet up with that orange-furred cat.
"Adiós, chica" the skeleton said, waving his hand.
A few minutes later, the robot and the plant also left because they had something important to do with Rochelle.
Only the three of them remained. Jinafire stared intently at her companion, Skelita didn't know what to do, and Catrine was engrossed in her drawing.
"So, when are you going to...?" she asked them without taking her eyes off her sketchbook.
"When what?" the dragon asked, confused.
"When are you two going to... kiss?" The question hung in the air. The French artist simply smiled.
"Well, I-I don't think it's really necessary," she replied nervously.
"Jin's right," she said, blushing again.
"Well, have a good day," she said, waving goodbye once recess was over. "Just... listen to what I'm saying."
...
In the workshop.
Skelita tried to even make a simple sketch, but it was impossible. She couldn't concentrate because she couldn't stop thinking about Jinafire.
Of course, she loved her very much, but she couldn't stop thinking about doing what her friend had suggested. The idea of kissing someone hadn't even crossed her mind.
Her thoughts were interrupted when someone hugged her from behind.
"Hi, my love," Jinafire whispered in her ear, stroking her hair.
"H-hi, darling," she stammered nervously. Her beautiful and charming girlfriend sat down beside her.
"Are you having trouble with your imagination?"
"I guess inspiration just slips away from me pretty quickly lately."
"Well, what are you thinking about right now?"
"I'm thinking about... you," she said with a knowing smile.
"And what do you like about what you're thinking about?" she smiled as she moved closer.
“The real question is, what don’t I like about you? You look like a queen,” she said, gazing into her eyes as the setting sun made her brown eyes sparkle. “You’re literally the only thing that comes to mind when I think of perfection.”
“Oh,” she said, covering her face as the heat intensified. “I didn’t think you thought something like that.”
“Of course I do.” she took her by the shoulders and stroked them several times.
Oh no! Her thoughts drifted back to the conversation they’d had with Catrine. Well, what was stopping her? She was her girlfriend now, and besides, she had a look of desire in her eyes.
Without realizing it, their noses were about to touch. That closeness intensified their desire. But there was a small detail. It was their first kiss. The very first.
“Would it be weird if I…?” she asked, but couldn’t finish the sentence.
Just as she was about to do them both that favor, the door opened with a soft noise and they immediately separated.
“Hey, friends, the sketch’s finished!” Clawdeen said, entering with a wide smile until she realized the atmosphere she’d interrupted. “Um… Am I interrupting something?” she asked with a mischievous grin, raising an eyebrow.
“No, not at all,” said the orange-haired girl, trying to act natural, but looking at the ground.
After chatting for a while about trivial things, they began working together on the dress. Since the design was quite complex, they might have to leave it unfinished for now and complete it another day.
“I suppose we should go now” Jinafire said after working on one part for about an hour. She placed her hand on the skeleton’s and stroked it.
“See you” Clawdeen said, leaving the workshop and leaving them alone. At first, that was what they had wanted, but now they were reconsidering.
The shorter girl couldn't meet her gaze, suddenly feeling shy. And, surprisingly, she felt the same way.
“I guess we should go now” the green-eyed girl stammered quickly.
“Sure, um…” Skelita seemed even more thoughtful than before.
“Is there anything else you want to say?” she asked gently, standing in front of her.
“No, of course not,” she said, finally overcoming her shyness and leaning in to give her a soft kiss on the cheek, hoping the situation wouldn’t become any more awkward.
The dragon felt a warm surge in her chest as she did so. And although it was just a simple, innocent kiss on the cheek, it brightened her night. It was something the faint smile that appeared on her face couldn’t hide.
“I love you, Jin,” she said, smiling sweetly.
“I love you more, my love.”
