Description:

In early 1995, you were involuntarily committed to a mental institution by your roommate; you were then relocated to Pescadero State Hospital for a myriad of reasons. You befriended Sarah Connor there, and, in your closeness, she shared her experiences and epiphanies regarding the future. When she escaped, months later, she returned for you — with her son and one of the very Terminators she feared: fiercely handsome and fiercely protective. Consider the rose: its blossoms, a token of virtue, and its thorns, a symbol of vice; an eternal emblem of duality, of opposition coexisting to form a thing of dangerous beauty. Such is the story of two hearts, two beings, vastly different yet in happy union: mortal and metal, authentic and artificial — those of you (female reader) and “T”, or, as John calls him, “Uncle Bob”, the Terminator come back in time to live.

Notes:

"The most sharp thorn often produces the most delicate rose." -Ovid

Roses is my attempt to answer the question, "what would happen if Uncle Bob didn't die, post-canon?" Many works have addressed this query – but this one, differentiated by its romantic and reader-insert plot, turns on his nature as a machine becoming a man; that is, becoming a being capable of knowing and showing love.
Of course, all are welcome to read it – I hope you enjoy! – though it is intended as a female reader x T-800 fiction.

This series is designed to be as realistic and immersive as possible, given that the message of the franchise (initially) is largely that there is extraordinary in the ordinary and that, accordingly, fate is made in even the smallest of moments. Accordingly, it aims to consider grand ideas about fate, humanity, and life and love through the lens of little moments in time; for it is in the small that we come to understand the big, and I believe that those moments are the foundation of relationships, forming the patterns of life, as opposed to the major milestones.
In order to realize this goal, all dates and times are correct, and information regarding events, weather, locations, historical and cultural contexts, etc. are accurate to the best of my ability to verify such using the resources readily at my disposal. It covers several years and yet is intentionally designed to be ceaseless; there is, happily, no way I could ever capture every moment over the period of this little universe of mine, and I take heart in its accordant flexible nature. It is updated (that is, its stories) whenever I please, without schedule. It is happily neverending; forever and always to be written, added to, and expanded.

My personal canon/sources are, of course, T1 and T2 – as well as their novelizations – and, to an extent, T2-3D and TSCC where needed. (T3-7 don’t exist to me) I also heavily draw from my own characterizations (based on canon) and headcanons.
As mentioned, everything is accurate to the extent possible, both to the reality and to the Terminator franchise lore; I take creative liberties where proper and fitting. That said, it is a post-canon work, stemming from the plot of T2 and beginning in December 1995, after the film's events.
Similarly to the franchise, there is sensitive content throughout the series, including eating disorders, sexual explicitness, and mentions of past violence. I make every effort to provide advance notice in the opening notes of the work and/or chapters relevant.

★ Please note that a significant portion of the ideas in this series (specifically in "Sweetness") have been copied in the work of another, which I believe to be blatant and deliberate, and that this, my work, is the original. Thank you for your consideration.
★ I'd like to take a moment to also thank my readers, especially those who comment, kudos, and/or bookmark; those who have given me inspiration and conversation; and whoever archived the series page to the Wayback Machine (you truly saved me when I deleted the map link and then regretted it and couldn't find it). My heart is huge with gratitude!
