He can't remember their endings, not a single one. He doesn't imagine them being happy.

Summary
The sick filth inside him never really goes, no matter how much he buries it under swordplay and misplaced aggression. It’s there as he tries to muddle through confusing feelings towards an Academy classmate that surely deserves better than his soiled, damaged self, but chooses him anyway. It’s there through bloody war, through peace, through rebuilding and restoration.
There, but buried. Until it’s dredged up like a bloated corpse sunk at the bottom of a decay-fouled tarn, and he’s forced to look into it’s ugly, rotted face. Unburied over drinks late into the night between the few people he’s ever dared call friends over the long years, when sane people would be asleep, but they’re knocking back shots of burning whiskey because they’re all chased by the ghosts of all the terrible things they’ve lived through.
Sylvain reminisces about about their childhoods, not much better than the war that made up most of their early adulthood. Training together as children. Then that trailed away to the knights they trained under after. Felix doesn’t join his jaunt down memory lane, not until he obliviously – unknowingly – drags him down after him. “Didn’t you squire for old Elidure, Fe?”
