    Superman hates Conner. He's never said as much, but his constant criticism of his clone after missions speaks for itself.

    Conner doesn't hate Superman, he just wants to stop being terrified of him, but that's just how it's been since the League pulled him from Cadmus four months ago. By October, Tim Drake has had enough and sics Batman on the Man of Steel to get him to ease up on his teammate.

    Clark hasn't been helping Superboy be a better hero. He doesn't know him at all. When he promises Conner things will be different, it takes Conner a while to believe him.

    Is 365 days enough time to change so much?

    The engagement ring dangled there, simple but unmistakably theirs. The light caught on it, refracting in soft glints that danced over his fingers. The words, ‘In every lifetime,’ were engraved on the inside. “You still haven’t told me what this is made of,” Tim said, eyes soft and curious. “It’s not any metal I recognize. I didn’t test it because I didn’t want to break it.”

    “Maybe I’ll tell you tonight,” Kon said, brushing a thumb along Tim’s jaw. “We’re still going to that pizza place, right?”

    Tim hummed, nodding faintly. “Yeah. Only restaurant on the west coast that makes it right.” He yawned against Kon’s chest, voice dropping to a sleepy murmur. “Still can’t believe we both got the same day off.”

    “I know,” Kon said with a grin in his voice. “We’re lucky.”

    Tim is hunched over his computer, bouncing between a report for B (Batman, not Bruce) and a spreadsheet for B (Bruce, not Batman) when Jason stumbles into the cave. If it weren’t for the fact that Jason had been in a somewhat good mood lately, Tim probably would have been a little more concerned about this fact. Still, it’s weird when, instead of ignoring Tim’s existence like he usually does, Jason walks over to him directly and says, “I'm in a time loop and I don't know why. Fix it."

    Timothy Jackson Drake was a genius.

    Certifiably, he’d been tested. Twice.

    He was also smart.

    He had his secret hide out office, his Batman photography hobby, and a foolproof system for managing his well-meaning but often absent parents.

    Everything was working exactly as planned.

    Then Super Boy Prime punched a hole through reality and Jason Todd clawed his way out of his grave.

    Which was good. But decidedly not Tim’s problem.

    Or it wasn’t until Tim accidentally photographed a dead Robin wandering around Gotham on Halloween night.

    When he couldn’t lead the zombie to Batman, he did what any logical eleven-year-old would do: he solved the puzzle, fed the zombie, and somehow ended up with an overly protective shadow who thought crossing state lines required supervision.

    Rude.

    Tim was starting to regret his curiosity about riddles.

    Timothy Jackson Drake was a genius.

    No one could disagree.

    He had papers!

    But smart?

    Yeah, Jason would argue that one.
