the peasants revolt---or the insurrection of wat tyler as it was known back in the day---was a rebellion against the english monarchy around south-eastern england in the year 1381. due to economic crisis brought upon by the hundred years' war against france during that time, and the loss of labor from the black plague wiping out a great chunk of the population, peasants and serfs were being taxed much more than they even earned per day. this caused unrest in the lower factions, along with literature published during that time detailing the monotonous and sorrowful lives of the ones below nobility. and then you get a 14 year old loser who really really loves this topic and gets super invested into it all the way to writing rpf with their classmates as all the people involved in this historical event and more.
