A brief - maybe shortish? - retelling/rewrite of Aphmau's Minecraft Dairies series, rewritten and re-told through the perspective of her most trusted and loyal Guards: Garroth and Laurence.
As these two devotees to their lord and potential lover grow more and more dramatic and farther from reality they might have to shift their perspective and rely on each other for solid ground and mending their own broken hearts.

White feathers fall from the sky, twirling as if in a dance, the edges of their soft touch quickly darkening like ink carelessly knocked onto a depiction of heaven. The sky is the sun peering through closed eyes, red, pulsing, and uncomfortable. There is blood and dust where forgiving grass used to proudly stand.

Exerpt from the first chapter because I don't have the faintest clue I am doing:
"A masked man knelt upon the ground and felt the soil beneath his hands- it was no different than that which the town of Golden Drop was fixed atop- so barren that even weeds struggled to grow. Even the decades-old trees that had shaded the village once upon a time had yet to put out new leaves despite it being late spring.
It wasn't a pretty sight- The masked man knew the area well, for he had kept tabs on it for the past decade or so, and he knew that the previous year had been rough enough. What, with the crops bearly producing enough food to keep the townspeople from starving. Atop it all, the local economy had taken a massive hit as they no longer had surplus for which to trade for profit. The town's people were borderline starving by now as all their stored crop was all but entirely depleted from the long, hard winter months they had weathered."

I loved Aphmau's series, Minecraft Diaries as a kid and always hoped that it would continue one day. When she announced that she would be redoing it, I saw the first few episodes and was impressed. Now it's years later and it hasn't continued.
I want to go through the journey making "better" choices and rewriting some stuff. I might not make it all the way through but I want to go as far as I can.
Seeing through Aphmau's mind and using game mechanics. I hope my journey hits the ground running.
