Often it is caused by the shift in hormones, traumatic pregnancy, and a already established history of mental health issues. Such a condition causes a mother figure to feel intense disassociation, lack of empathy, inability to bond with child, and far more intense reactions that could put the child in harm's way.
What if Victor Frankenstein had the opposite reaction?
What if he found what many mothers found. Joy, relief, happiness, and a feeling of satisfaction.

“You are fascinating,” the man said, emphasizing the last word like a prayer, like a confession, drawing the creature in with the spark of interest dancing behind his blue eyes. “Your blood runs through your veins in a chaotic symphony.”
And then the creature saw them, protruding from the man’s gums like twin daggers - a pair of sharp, fanglike teeth. He stared in awe, mystified by the new sight. “You are no mortal,” the creature said, eager for answers.
“No," the man agreed, grin pulling at the edges of his blood red mouth. “I am a vampyre."
Vampyre. The creature had read the word before in folk tales - stories of immortal demons who drank the blood of innocents to sustain their unholy existence.
“And you?" The vampyre prompted, gaze darting across the exposed strip of the creature’s face. “What manner of being are you?"
“A monster."

As expected, his words are met with no reply. He pushes back the feeling of annoyance, and before he could open his mouth again, a large collage of thunder and lightning strike loudly, lighting up the entire room. The creature's eyes widen with pure terror and It's large hands go to cover his ears. Victor now realizes what the problem is.
“The storm? You are afraid of the storm?” He fails to hide the incredulousness in his voice.
OR: After Elizabeth and William meet the Creature, Victor has a change of heart and tries to be a better father to his son.

Elizabeth spoke her name again, repeating the gesture of rubbing her hands against her throat and waiting for the girl to follow.The creature's fingers fluttered across Lavenza's neck, and the gesture would have been uncomfortable had it been anybody but, the proximity and enclosure of the fingers to encroach upon the neck, so easy to end the life and give it so forth.
She chuckled at the dramatics, and allowed herself her teeth to slip past her tongue into a soft and prideful smile.
