“Jean, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry that I didn’t keep our promise,” he whispered softly to himself. Kevin felt a wave of sadness wash over him, knowing he had let his friend down. It was a promise they had made together, and now it felt broken. He wished he could turn back time and change things, to be the friend Jean needed right now. But all he could do was hope that Jean would be alright, even if he couldn’t be there to help him as he had in the past, and hope that Jean, at the very least, kept his promise.

I dedicate this work to my dearest girl — the one who inspired me to write it. What began as a small message in our chat eventually grew into the massive draft I now carry on my phone. I hope you enjoy this story, as I personally see it as a possible continuation of canon — a glimpse into the lives of the Foxes after the end of the third book.
While writing, I’ve relied on the released material about Jean and the additional information shared by Nora herself, doing my best to stay within the bounds of canon and keep everything true to the original universe.
