AU! When a human makes his way into Dracula's monster hotel, the vampire is desperate to get rid of him. But after a disaster that brings the human to his daughter Mavis's attention, things become complicated. Dracula senses something unusual in the human, something that doesn't make sense. He's always been the kind of monster to help those who are broken, and he is determined to find out what's wrong. While keeping the human disguised, he and his friends begin to probe into the cracks, and it becomes clear that something is very wrong. But time is ticking, and Dracula fears that Jonathan's humanity will be discovered. If it is, it could be the end of the hotel.
Jonathan meanwhile begins to discover the monsters might actually understand what's wrong, but still, he hesitates to reveal anything. As he gets more comfortable in the monster world, he starts to fear the time when he'll have to leave the wonderful hotel and caring monsters. He knows that though the monsters understand a lot, they would never understand him being human. In fact, most of them hate humans and are afraid of them. How can Jonathan reconcile his desire to stay when he hates and fears himself?
