1986 was supposed to be a year of new beginnings. It was Party’s first year of high school and the Upside Down had finally been defeated. But nothing was turning out the way it should.
Will and El were across the country, Max was hardly speaking to anyone, and they were all trying to hold onto their friendship when they were all being torn apart.
But there was hope with spring break right around the corner, the chance for everything to go back to the way it used to be.
But between government conspiracies and a new villain rising out from the Gates, will they be able to, or will the lose everything, even their lives, before the clock strikes midnight?

Summary
Seeing as Max Mayfield and Mike Wheeler had such a rough start, it would surprise the general public with just how close they’ve become. When the party started highschool and the Byers’ moved away, they both faded away in some way, shape, or form. Even more so when the Byers’ moved back and the ground split open and Hawkins became a literal Hell on earth. After they defeated Vecna everyone moved on and kept on living. Except for Max and Mike. They were stuck in the past and the grief that held them there, through their depression and guilt however, they found a friend to connect and open up with in a way they never had before. This brings us to the present day 1988, Mike and Max are laying on Mike’s bed figuring out how to keep the fact that they’re in a band away from their friends, if you could even call them that at this point. They had been avoiding them for weeks just trying to get by. It’s really hard to watch all your friends live their lives after such a traumatic time while you’re stuck drowning under the weight of the past.

He hid when his dad screamed and broke things. He hid the truth when bullies at school slung terrifyingly accurate, harsh words. He hid when the Demogorgon stalked him through the Upside Down for a week.
Will Byers is good at hiding. It’s what’s kept him alive this long.

With Will having already turned to Vecna's side, the party tries to hunt him down in the upside-down. They get side-tracked when they come-across an inhumane Eddie and are faced with the choice of risking a life to help Eddie survive.

As the Party in Hawkins struggle to remain collected and keep their friendships from falling apart, Will and Jane struggle with finding their footing in a new town. Summary

When Max's homelife gets worse, the thin ice of morality that the party were balancing on melts.
