Summary
This takes place during Luci and Dea's tense trip to the Palace. Despite the ball being held in their honor, Deatrice has only one thing on her mind: escape. Escape from the man who, after she saved his life, announced his plan to discard her at the first opportune moment. His plan to completely ruin and then abandon her. While she starts out determined to run away from him, she's quickly caught by the Prince who was obsessed with her. Despite Luci's warning to come to him if he troubles her, she bites her tongue. He reinforces for her that there's no hope for her, the whole world will only ever see her as an object to be used and then disposed of. She sinks into a madness born of despair. All the while, Lucius can't seem to get through to her, no matter how badly he wants to take back the things he said and did.
