Summary
Herbert von Krolock is an ancient and powerful vampire, second-in-command to his father, with many connections to other vampire clans and a firm control on his surroundings. He plays the part of the spoiled viscount and he plays it well. So when he learns about some vampire hunters coming to threaten him and his father, he does not take them seriously.
He doesn't take them seriously when they threaten him and his coven. He doesn't take them seriously when they kidnap him and cart him across the Austrian Empire. He doesn't even take them seriously when they put him into a cage in the middle of the Rudolphina university, though he is beginning to suspect that things might be a bit more dire than first suspected.
But then again, little pains like these always pass. Right?

Then he wakes up in Castle von Krolock, the morning before the Midnight Ball.
No matter what he does, he always ends up back in the castle.

“This won’t hurt,” Herbert said reassuringly. Alfred couldn’t help but shiver as the vampire pressed a light kiss to his throat.
“You don’t have to lie, Herbert.” Alfred murmured. “I’ve felt Sarah’s bite seven times now…”
There was a light hiss from the blonde as he heard Sarah’s name. He briefly removed his lips from Alfred’s throat and the young man almost jumped when he felt Herbert’s lips brush his ear.
“I,” Herbert whispered softly, “am not Sarah.”

Summary
Alfred used to be quite content with his life as Professor Abronsius' research assistant.
He may have to carry heavy bags daily, accompany the professor 24/7 and tend to his every need but other than that, he's doing pretty well.
He has food. He has a place to sleep.
That's everything important really.
Abronsius, being now fixated on proving the existence of Vampires, decided to take him along to a trip to the Transylvanian Alps, where he madly falls in love with Sarah, the daughter of the innkeeper who offered them a place to stay.
Sarah is, however, severely overprotected by her father and her greatest wish is to be free and see what life has to offer.
Alfred wants to give her what her heart desires.
But, can he really?
Despite him being worked like a servant every day, he still doesn't want to admit, that he may be just as trapped in life, as Sarah is in her home.
It is clear that something has to change in both of their lives for this romance to work out.
Perhaps, a trip to a vampire lord's castle might do the trick?- Language:
