Summary
To everyone's shock, the prison riots worked. Phillip Turpin is arrested and Benjamin is free after over fifteen years of a false charge. He begins taking back his life, beginning with his daughter. However, the word "father" tastes like poison in Johanna's mouth after what her guardian did her to and a flighty girl always has her wings outstretched.
Or: Benjamin gets his daughter back, but he's used to being the parent of an infant. Not a traumatized teenager.

Summary
The term "Bovary Box" was (jokingly) coined by my old humanities teacher. It refers to the controversial novel "Madame Bovary" by Gustave Flaubert. The Bovary Box in the novel itself is a supposed miraculous invention that Madame Bovary’s bumbling husband Charles thinks will somehow cure the medical suffering of another character. In other words, a Bovary Box is something, an object, event, or location, that you think will somehow miraculously produce happiness, though it usually makes the situation worse. So, knowing that, do you think moving to a small town in the middle of nowhere you know next to nothing about would cure your wife’s hysteria?

A sweet little self indulgent three-parter filled with projection in which I ace-ify one of my favorite characters.
It's Sweeney and Nellie's wedding day, and while Nellie is excited to finally be marrying the love of her life, she also has a secret that she's worried about. She fears that if she tells Sweeney, he won't want to be with her anymore, but if she doesn't, she'll be forced into something she's uncomfortable with.

When Jo is twelve years old, she and the rest of the soccer team crowd into a dingy but cheap ice cream shop after their first game of the season, and her eyes widen at the extra scoop of rocky road (she thinks?) the woman behind the counter gives her with a wink. It will take her another four years to realize the woman is winking at Jo’s dad, coming to the conclusion on the first day of her new summer job that she was definitely only hired to scoop ice cream for the next three months because her boss wants to fuck him.
Being sixteen, Jo has decided, sucks ass.
